Services We Offer

At Oakhurst Preschool we have structured our services so that we can offer quality early childcare education to meet all of your needs.

If you￿re looking for early childhood centres in Oakhurst area we have a team of long-serving, qualified staff who are able to care for your baby or young child.
Our educators are committed to safety, the highest level of care and genuine interaction with your little one and are competent and confident in caring for younger children.
Our high quality care allows you the confidence to have a productive and enjoyable day, whatever you are doing. Oakhurst Preschool is conveniently and centrally located in Oakhurst (Plumpton).

Our commitment to education and care is responsive to individual needs of both children and their families enabling staff to focus on identity and belonging for all children, providing a program rich in language, literacy and creative expression, exploration, and investigation.
We pride ourselves on the extensive opportunities provided to all children by our team of qualified and experienced early childhood staff.

Hours of operation

Oakhurst Preschool is open for 50 weeks per year (Closed for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year)

Our licensed hours are 7.00am to 6.00pm. These hours are not flexible (Children cannot be left before 7.00am and must be collected no later than 6.00pm)A Late Fee of $35.00 will be charged if your child is collected after 6.00pm and before 6.15pm.A further fee will apply thereafter.

The Centre is closed on declared Public Holidays. Fees still apply for Public Holidays except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Meals and Menus

At Oakhurst Preschool we provide 5 nutritious meals / snacks per day. These are prepared fresh, on the premises daily by a qualified cook.

Meal times:-

Breakfast- 7:30 ￿ 7:45am
Morning tea - 9:15 ￿ 9:30 am
Lunch- 11am ￿ 12 noon
Afternoon tea- 2 ￿ 2:15 pm and
Late snack- After 5:00 pm.

  • The weekly menu is on display on the Nutrition notice board in the foyer. Please inform staff of any food allergies/intolerances or particular foods your child is not allowed to eat for health or cultural reasons.
  • An Allergy Action Plan completed in consultation with, and signed by, your child's doctor is required for allergies and food intolerances. Alternate meals will be provided for children though special foods (e.g. soymilk) are to be provided by the parents.
  • To protect children with allergies no food is to be brought into the centre unless discussed previously with the Director.
  • Babies will only be given new foods that have been already introduced at home. .All menus follow the Balanced Dietary Guidelines for Long Day Care Centres and are developed by our cook in consultation with staff. Input from families including recipe ideas is welcome.
  • A plain cake or sufficient cupcakes for the room may be supplied to celebrate your child's birthday.
  • Please ensure that no food is left in children's bags.
  • Only plain milk, formula, or water will be given or is to be sent for babies or toddlers in bottles.
  • All children have ready access to water throughout the day

Sun Protection

Oakhurst Preschool follows the Cancer Council recommendations for sun protection and we are a SunSmart Centre. SPF30+ Broad spectrum sunscreen is applied to children 20 minutes before outside play both mornings and afternoons. Our No Hat No Play Policy requires all children to wear a sun hat outside. A legionnaire style hat is supplied for each child. Children are to wear shirts with sleeves to protect their shoulders from the sun. Preschool hats must remain at the centre. Staff will launder hats as required.
